The aim of this study is to present an interventionist methodology called Change Laboratory ® (in Portuguese, Laboratório de Mudança). This methodology was developed in Finland in the 1990s, and is based on an Activity Theoretical approach originated in Russia. After the description of the main techniques and methods, a summary of applications of this methodology will be presented in order to characterize some of the features of the research studies and interventions conducted in different activities and countries. The LM has been applied in several countries, both in the public and the private sector, in research studies at schools, hospitals, agriculture, media and telecommunications, among other productive activities. This methodology may be used as a meta-tool for supporting practitioners in analysing and developing their activities from a cultural and historical perspective. In this perspective, crisis, dilemmas and conflicts are not understood only in relation to the behavior of individuals and resources available, but rather in relation to all elements of an activity system.Downloads
