This article discusses the relevance of environmental issues in the process of decision-making of organizational purchases from the paper and cellulose sector. It discusses the relationship between environmental issues and purchase decisions. It starts with the presentation and discussion of the concept of decision-making. It discusses Green Marketing as an organizational strategy to inform the market about environmental initiatives of the organization. This concept has been used as part of some efforts to understand the place of environmental variables in organizational and social dynamics. From the list of companies provided by the Federation of Industries of different states of Brazil, information was collected from 36 purchasing companies from the paper and cellulose sector. The data collected and the subsequent analysis showed strong evidence that environmental issues do not seem to affect the preferences of institutional buyers in this sector when they decide to purchase the products. It also concludes that purchasers don’t have a satisfactory knowledge of actual environmental practices of the companies.Downloads
