Abstract

We live in times of great and diversified thinking. Social changes, our expectations, the risks and possibilities that appear on the horizon are many. For this reason, several areas of knowledge are called upon to provide contributions to understanding these changes and to guide those who experience them daily. Management also changes and, in this process, it seems to get closer to the social sciences – an important point of reference in educating future managers. However, this approximation does not always give positive results, with each area remaining as restricted domains that refract each other. This article aims to precisely discuss the possibilities arising from interaction between management and the social sciences, whether from the point of view of teaching, science or the extent or daily practice in which knowledge from both sides is employed. Without intending to provide answers, more specific questioning about the identity of management in times of accelerated social change is suggested, which reflects itself in the way that its professionals behave and are expected to behave.
