This study aims to analyze the different stimuli and blocks in the use of active methodologies (AMs) in the Administration teaching. The research is characterized as an exploratory-descriptive study, of quantitative nature, carried out with 126 professors in the Administration area of nine federal institutions of higher education in the south region of Brazil. The results pointed out the professors’ attitude toward the usage of AMs, and the support of the institution (course coordination) as the main stimuli to the use of AMs in the Administration teaching while the professors’ formation stood out as the main block to its utilization. In addition, the professors reported an increase in the professors’ workload in activities of planning, organization and in the development of activities related to AMs, although this factor has not been shown to be significant for the professor to stop using these methodologies in their classes. However, we have to identify ways to ease this effort. We expect that the research helps professors and managers of Educational Institutions in relation to the use of Active Methodologies in Administration teaching, as well in the teaching of a broader form.
