In order to investigate the role of higher education institutions in the academic success of business students, the aim of this article is to indicate the main institutional factors that contribute to educational and professional excellence. Specifically, it seeks to: identify the central factors associated with the academic performance of business courses and analyse the impact of the HEI's profile on academic performance. The descriptive and quantitative research used secondary data from ENADE (2022) as a basis. To verify the data, bivariate analysis was first carried out using simple linear regression, and then multivariate analysis using multiple linear regression by the data entry method. The results show that physical infrastructure, teaching staff qualifications and opportunities for further training have a positive impact on academic performance. On the other hand, didactic-pedagogical organisation and teachers' working conditions showed no clear correlation with performance. Students from public institutions performed better than those from private institutions. It can be concluded that the quality of higher education institutions, especially in terms of infrastructure and teaching staff, is fundamental to academic success.
