Abstract

The agendas of research into decision-making in organizations suggest a focus on the subjective aspects of the decisionmaking processes, such as managers’ and entrepreneurs’ values and life experience. They also suggest the adoption of methods that surpass the limitations of the most frequently used research designs to understand the subjective aspects
of individual decision-making. Based on these agendas, this article proposes the use of the Life History method as a possibility to investigate the influence of the individual’s values and life experiences in the decision process. The paper presents an illustrative case in order to demonstrate the possibilities of the method. In this sense, the main contribution
of this paper is to show how the Life History method could contribute to a qualitative study of individual values and life experience in the organizational decision-making process.
