The study investigated the differences between the profiles of business faculty members and their level of dedication to the multiple roles they perform. With a sample of 201 professors from Administration and Accounting, it was observed that most are male, aged between 41 and 50 years, hold doctoral degrees, and teach at public universities in the South of Brazil. The majority work 40 hours per week with exclusive dedication and have 7 to 25 years of experience. Participants mainly focus on teaching and research, showing less involvement in extension and management activities. The tests revealed differences related to: (i) age range and the roles of researcher and manager; (ii) level of education and the roles of researcher, extensionist, and manager; (iii) area of expertise and the role of professor; (iv) type of university and the roles of professor and researcher; (v) work regime and all roles performed; and (vi) career stage and the roles of researcher, extensionist, and manager. These results contribute to the discussion on the various roles of university faculty and indicate the need for institutional strategies and professional development policies.
