This paper expands on assessment practices of quantitative training in graduate management programs. Considering the Brazilian case, the paper first examines the role of quantitative training in graduate studies, followed by a critical review of assessment practices and their associated risks. A new model of assessment is proposed and illustrated through two real applied cases. The study contributes by offering an assessment model with practical managerial applications for quantitative courses, based on applied learning and development of methodological competencies. The model presents an alternative approach that enhances methodological competencies while delivering both managerial and academic outcomes, thereby enriching the teaching-learning process.
